Daniel Levy - Former Chairman

It wasn’t just Hoddle.

Didn’t Robbie Keane say the same thing, when he was working with his agent’s agency at the time?

It doesn't really matter who says it. It's the start sh itting or get off the pot conundrum.

They all want to sound smart and undermine Poch, yet none of of them are brave enough to name names.

My view in 2018 was that I would have like to seen us buy a couple of fantastic U21s. I fully understand we couldn't get A-list elite stars. That was the pattern with Levy and that recruitment setup for years. It was all hot air from them. However, they could have switched strategy and invested for the future. Poch was fantastic of his nurturing of Kane, Dele, Walker, Rose, Winksy etc. They should have been looking for that profile so we didn't end up empty handed.

We were never going to replace those players like for like, we probably had 7 of the best 11 players in the world in their positions at the time, the issue isn’t that we didn’t replace them, it’s that that group didn’t win anything.
This was Levy's plan all along. Assemble a manager and a group of players who were nearly good enough. And if they looked like they might (GHod forbid) win something, he had a backup; buy them all engraved watches.

Gas. If you think we had the 7 best players in their positions you need to see a optician. 🤣
And Ndombele and Lo Celso.
If he had gotten Wijnaldum we would have never gone for Ndombele. If we had gotten Fernandes (as he wanted) we wouldn't have gone for Lo Celso. Both are cases of not getting the ideal choice and having to find an alternative.

That was mercifully a loan.
I'm sure there was a story that we bought Stambouli by accident. As in, The manager had wanted a different player from PSG but miscommunication led to us getting him instead.

The story was Poch wanted Morgan Schneiderlin, but our data team identified Stambouli as an identical player, but for 1/10th the price. Schneiderlin turned out to be crap outside of a Poch system anyway.

Outside of the very biggest clubs in the world, most of the time you don't get your top targets - the players you mention went to Liverpool and Man Utd who are two such clubs.

This is the problem a club the next rung down in the chain is always going to face - Any coach outside of the true big boys in Europe are going to have to accept you aren't going to get your most most desired. So Poch would have to work with alternatives outside of his first choices, just like 99% of football managers do....

Yep, its a reality that some don't want to admit to. And look we have made mistakes too (we are also not the only club to do that) but the reality is we shop in a very different market to some PL clubs for two reasons, or at least two reasons from the last 20 years - 1/Status 2/financial doping

Mane interview told out loud why he joined Liverpool and even then people don't want to listen to the words that come out.
