Mateus Ferdnandes

I thought he wanted to join Man Utd.
But if we truly are after two quality midfielders that is further fuel to belief in De Zerbi effecting something special very quickly. Perhaps we could look at Wharton...
But could spell the end for Bergvall

Noise about Wharton as well.

Lots of the "secret" nonsense says our spend this season will really be on midfield.

West Ham fans will enjoy this one ..

Throw enough spaghetti at the wall and see what sticks.

Tonali, Fernandes and Wharton would all dramatically improve our MF on their own, let alone two of them.

No chance, and notice the wording 'keen on' - I'm sure there's a plethora of players we are keen on. He wants Man U where he will play with his idol Bruno Fernandez. More chance of Tonali, and we would do well to do that....

I have heard similar, to the extent that apparently we are not actively canvassing for a CF. Which IMO is mad!!!!

Thing is, it's not mad to me at all. We just have to reprogram ourselves as fans to a new model where we focus on quality over quantity. We don't stretch our budget as thinly as before and try to solve for every position in a single window. That means there will be times where we just need to make do with what we've got and wait for the next transfer window to come along, or the one after that.

I reckon our primary attacking target is Savinho. It's not a number 9 this window.

We have to remember we can't just get everything in one window. If we get in a quality CM and at least one quality winger along with having already addressed our CB issue then that is a very good window.

Quality strikers are hard to come by - if we improve our CM and wingers then we will score a lot more goals whether that be from the new players themselves or more chances created for Solanke and Richi - and possibly RDZ might consider Tel or Lankshear at CF too. We can't expect everything sorted in one window, and CF is the toughest to recruit arguably.....

Definitely agree. While I agree that we definitely needed to shake things up in midfield and fill the squad with better passers, we are extremely weak in CF. It also depends on whether they consider wingers as forwards or midfielders but our wing play has been catastrophic (too) last season.

Considering he went for ball-playing defenders, I'd have been happy with one big signing in midfield and would have focused on the forward line. But what do I know?

I agree.
I dont think we have the quality at CF.

I agree. However clearly, we are remodelling right now. The midfield is going to be significantly different. We're already seeing that with the defence.

Appears to be that way. I think we should be all out for a 9, however, if we cannot get one of top quality, then I understand waiting.

I would be shocked if that was the case....I think RDZ will raise a few eyebrows with the outgoings this summer...

I guess I'd need to understand whether we could even get a CF that fits the "quality" bucket and not just another "quantity" purchase. There are a significant number of average CFs around and there's a fair few that have a fantastic season or two but don't have a great CV. What I would like to see is a second Solanke profile. It was the same with Ange. Whenever Dom was missing, it did change us tactically. First priority is to get the guy through a pre-season and help him get his mojo back. Having someone that plays like him could be a real enabler. I don't think Richi or Tel tick those same boxes. Lanks might. Interestingly, Scarlett sort of does do the same sorts of things but isn't rated.

I'm not saying as the main CF, but both have shown they can play there - See Tel goal away at Leeds as an example of what he can do up front, RDZ genuinely seems to like him so maybe sees him playing there sometimes if we upgrade our LW.

But regardless, if we have added quality to our midfield and wingers then we will have a dramatically increased attacking output even if we keep the same CFs. That's not to say they don't need improving on, but to expect everything done in one summer is not feasible - especially an area so dearth of quality....

i have no expectations whatsoever, only open eyes and a sense of relief that
a) I don't know what is going to happen and
b) whatever happens we are in the Premier League still

I'll say this. I doubt you'll get many people to agree on anything re: playing staff and how to build/not build. It's actually pretty funny if you take a step back from it all. We have a manager who appears to carry all the clout and personality we have craved plus he can coach as well as manage. This in turn makes hin the rarest and luckiest manager of this club I have ever seen, because he is pulling the strings of desire with regards to squad right now. It's actually extraordinary...I am intrigued as to where he and his vision can get us...
