Because you're losing 10+ Premier League goals a year in Richy, for a side that finished 17th and an eyelash away from being relegated.

The reality is, any moves we do are going to have to be calibrated against the reality that even a slight worsening of the side probably sends us down. We need as close to guaranteed impact as possible - and usually, that means Prem-proven, especially given the terrible striker market around right now.

But this is silly rationale. The very guy you want wasn't PL proven before his move here, neither was Haaland, Tiago, Kroupi, Isak, Cunha, Ekitke or any number of historical PL strikers like Berbatov, Aguero, Costa hell even the English ones weren't PL proven until they are.

There is absolutely no guarantee from the PL versus abroad. The best strikers in the PL right now all came from a road, they were all evaluated correctly and the decision to bring them in made. If every team had your attitude there would be no Haaland, Pedro, Isak etc etc etc.

I find it even more amusing you want to follow this path when literally the reason we need to new strikers is because the "PL proven" guys we signed aren't bloody good enough and that's likely always going to be the case because we aren't signing star strikers from the big 6 clubs.

I dont understand and yet I do understand that everyone believes we are a 17th placed team squad wise. No other team dealt with the injuries we had over that season. This seriously impacted our ability to put out a consistent team. Again up until December we was around the top 6. Then injuries just overwhelmed us. We sat deeper and deeper out of fear and no ability to push teams back.

Under RDZ he got out tactics to work and our stats put us top 6 during his period. Youth needs a chance. He played in a Relegation team and got goals. He deserves to be with us on the bench with us or loaned to a premier league team. But we do need another striker. I think Solanke will get a chance. I like Richarlison in moments but he also is not the best finisher. So if he wants to go home to brazil it might be best for both parties.

But the luxury of bringing in promising players from abroad is available to teams who can afford for those gambles to fail, as most do. For every forward who makes it here, there's a couple of big money flops who fail and slink back to the continent on a free - we've had our fair share of those too, if you'll recall. From Soldado to Jansen and beyond. And the list in the wider PL is endlessly long.

Again - we finished 2 points off relegation. One small shift downwards in our overall level, and we would be where West Ham are now.

Given the focus this summer from the club seems to be on Premier-League proven players, it seems the club understands no risks can be taken. The clubs that can gamble on foreign players succeeding aren't in as fragile a situation as we are.

Maybe the guy we’d replace Richy with will have better movement creating more opportunities for final passes, a better conversion ratio for those chances, and a better injury record?

The jury is still out on Solanke for me. He played a sacrificial lamb/unselfish team-first role under Ange and I don’t think you can make a solid assumption about anyone from last season without even taking into account injuries.

Who is this PL proven striker that you think is suitable and available? I'm struggling to see anyone that would be a serious target.

he's currently 59th in the all time PL goal scorer list, how many currently active players are ahead of him, and how many of those could we realistically sign from Bayern Munich?
