Lucas Bergvall

If the guys you mention are still injured/suffering from unconvincing form then the players we are reportedly willing to let go this season (Bergvall & Vuskovic) aren't the solution. They don't solve that issue at all. If anything kot having them clogging up the squad and having the money we get for them would actually go towards fixing whatever chronic injury issues we might have.
I'd say Vuskovic's problem is he doesn't want another loan. He looks way ahead of Bergvall in his development (albeit in a different position) and could be good enough for a starting place in a mid table team. The problem is, our ambitions are higher than that, but a good season in a club of the right stature could make him worth a try.

Chelski has about 14.000 players out on loan at any given time. Not to mention City and their numerous feeder clubs. Why can't we do the same with Bergvall ang Vuskovic?

I trust RDZ to make the best decision for the team right now, even if it includes selling Luca and Lukas, but those two are also highly rated youngsters who could save us considerable money in the future if they keep developing. Which they could easily do on loan, IMO.
That might well be our preference but it seems clear that Vuskovic doesn't want to go out on loan again and it's quite possible that Bergvall won't either.

Without much creativity?!

If Tonali and Fermandes are going to be cemented in starters, I just don't understand the logic of keeping Bentancur and Gallagher as back up, compared to much higher ceiling kids. Especially in a 45, rather than 65, game season

I am not sure we can stand in the way of Bergvall TBH. He deserves more than being kept around to rotate in a minimal-game season, and it's clear that whether we agree or not, RDZ does not see him as an important ingredient. I think Gray will be fighting hard in the midfield mix too. I take your creativity comment, however I think creativity in his sides is coming from a significantly higher press and recovery up the pitch, quick passes through the lines (Fernandes can do that, as can Gray) and I think it will be vital to have a fit Kudus and really good LW (I am good with Gapko TBH). It feels to me like RDZ is looking to crash back into the CL when hopefully we can continue to add/revitalise our squad as necessary.

I would keep Bergvall instead of Gallagher as a box-to-box engine room. But also bring in a Stiller or Wharton as a ballplayer

Thing is though mate, it's clear we're not doing that. Gallagher's got given the 8, it looks like we will close out one -if not both- the Tonali and Fernandes deals, so Lucas has seen the writing on the wall and wants a fresh start elsewhere. Makes a lot of sense, sad as it is.

I think your expectations are way too high considering the track record of everyone involved. I don't think any chance we sign either of those players or we'll get anywhere above mid-table at best.

We're the worst team in the league at this point in time (with the promoted teams being unknowns, but having momentum) and don't have anyone in charge who knows what they are doing.

Specifically do you realise that Fernandes is a Jorge Mendes player? That never works out well for anyone, especially us (and Wolves)

We have them on long contracts and de Zerbi is odds against being here for Christmas 2027.
So ... what? Do we make them go out on loan even if they don't want to (can we even do that?) or simply ignore their wishes? We've seen nothing substantive to suggest that RDZ wants rid of Vuskovic or Bergvall (or anyone else for that matter). One of the things really makes me laugh is that one of the reasons often given for the frequent turnover of managers is that "the club doesn't back them". Now it seems it's a bad idea to back the manager in case they leave.

Yes - we employ them, so can take a firm line. The same as Chelsea and every other club that loans players out do

Sometimes the club has to act in its long term interests, even if it is against the wishes of the manager. Like blocking Graham selling King to bring in Southgate, or blocking Redknapp selling Bale to Forest.

Its already been confirmed that Redknapp was never going to sell Bale, i’m not sure why you keep mentioning it.

My concern is that we haven't scored a goal from open play since about 2024. I don't think Maddison will recover to his previous level (which lets be honest wasn't ever really good enough). Simons would have been key, but he's obviously out till the spring. So is 'where possession goes to die' Gallagher meant to be our playmaker for the season? Or are we going to give Devine a shot?

I know creative players have to be hardworking - Eriksen was textbook, I think Simons has the capacity (though he wasn't fit enough last season). But playing runners who can't pass is a recipe for another very poor season
This is literally Bergvall.

We would be hollowing out an already thin squad, not only replacing the front line, but also the playmakers and those behind them.
That's a lot of churn in two or three windows.

We need the churn. Even the manager said we have 11-12 players that are good enough. It's not really hollowing out if we add at the same time as others leave. Personally I think we have too many middling players anyway. I'd rather a tighter higher quality squad.

So do I. I don't think you need Tonali and Gallagher as Tonali is a Gallagher upgrade not some deep lying QB he's being taken for.
Where is the customary chart showing his passing capabilities compared to other players, I won’t believe anything without that key piece of evidence 😂

On a serious note, his passing looks pretty good from the eye test
