Which is a major point. This sort of approach is not applied in the same context with (say) Catholic priests.

Assuming you and other practicing Catholics don't walk down the street screaming your faith at the world, assumning that you are someone who just walks down the street, how many people do you think look at you and jump to the conclusion you're a Catholic and therefore a pedo-protector?

Now try if possible to imagine how the average Pakistani, Indian, Persianor brown-skinned Middle Eastern person walking down the street gets viewed. No prizes for guessing mind...

I wouldn’t dispute your last point. But it does happen. My Mum was spat on walking in to Mass last year. May not be related to the Priest scandal and this was in Ireland. Security is the 2nd biggest line item on my churches budget as well.
